Matt Landis and Steve Pontrello Added to Launch Active Roster

According to the MLL’s Transaction List the Florida Launch have activated their first round pick, Matt Landis of Notre Dame, and Steve Pontrello of North Carolina, to the active roster and have waived Kevin Randall and Dan Eipp.  The Active Roster contains 25 names, of which 19 dress for the game. Landis last played in Notre Dame’s quarterfinal NCAA loss to Pontrello’s national champions.  Landis was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy and Pontrello is coming off a Final Four performance where he put up 4 goals and 4 assists in the two games. Although nothing is set in stone until noon today as far as the 25-man roster is concerned it looks like both will likely make their debuts Saturday.  Landis is being counted on to fill out the close defense as he is known for his strong on-ball play and Pontrello’s speed will be a welcome addition on the offensive side of the ball.  Pontrello mostly played midfield for UNC until this year where he was asked to play attack after the 2015 graduation of Billy Bitter and Joey Sankey and responded with 49 goals and 21 assists in 18 games to lead the Tar Heels in scoring.  Pontrello was drafted late in Round 3, at 25th overall, by the Launch.  Landis was selected with the #3 overall pick.  They join Liam Byrnes as players from the 2016 draft to make the leap to the active roster.   Matt Landis 2016 ND Launch Matt Landis ND Bio   Steve Pontrello UNC 2016 Launch Steve Pontrello UNC Bio   Some video highlights       Good luck to both as they join the Launch!
