Kurt Stadelman joins Gainesville High School as their new head coach for the 2012 season.   Previous coach Chuck Rogan moved to Gainesville’s East Side High School creating the opening for Kurt. We asked Kurt to tell us a little about himself. Playing Career I grew up in Winter Park, FL where I started playing in the Orange County Youth Lacrosse system. I played attack at Winter Park HS and was a team captain for Coach Ryan Healey my senior year reaching the state championship game. I then went on to attend the University of Florida where we won the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference and reached the MCLA national tournament in Denver. I was a team captain for Coach Ryan Winters at UF my senior year. Coaching Career I coached for Upper 90 Lacrosse Camps and League in Montgomery County, MD alongside Paul Rabil and other NCAA players/coaches. I am excited for my first head coaching opportunity. Goals for GHS It all starts with improving my players’ on and off the field. Making sure they grow as not only lacrosse players, but young men with their priorities and character in order. I’ll stress discipline and hard work, while also making the sport as fun as possible for the boys. I’d like to start with the preseason goal of making our District 7 playoffs. I believe this is an attainable goal, and hope our players and their families share my confidence. It’s an honor to be a part of the growth of lacrosse at Gainesville High School and the North-Central Florida area. Go ‘Canes!
