MLL: 2016 Brine Goalie of the Year: John Galloway

via MLL press release   BOSTON (August 15, 2016) –  Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, and  Brine announced today that Rochester Rattlers goalkeeper  John Galloway has been named  2016 Brine Goalie of the Year, as voted by MLL coaches and general managers. The six-season veteran goalkeeper for Rochester  earned seven first place votes and 60 total points to receive the 2016 Brine Goalie of the Year title. Behind Galloway, Boston’s  Tyler Fiorito finished in second with three first place votes and 30 points after a remarkable year himself while Ohio’s goaltender  Scott Rodgers earned two first place votes and 27 points. A starter in 13  games for the Rattlers, Galloway finished the 2016 regular season with an 8-5 record. Galloway ended with 188 saves and a career-high save percentage at 56.3%. Galloway also had one of the lowest goals against averages in the League with 11.77. Galloway was an integral part of the Rochester’s defense and success all season, consistently making stops in the cage. In Week 7, Galloway made 21 saves off 30 shots on goal in route to the Rattlers’ 13-9 win over the Ohio Machine. This was the only time an opponent held the Machine to single-digits during the 2016 Season. Galloway’s season-high 21 saves earned him Coca-Cola Player of the Game honors. This is the second time Galloway has earned Goalie of the Year honors. He also won the award in 2014 after leading the Rattlers to a 10-4 regular season record behind 194 saves and a goals against average of 11.16. 2016 Brine Goalie Voting Results The 2016 ” Brine   Goalie of the Year” is determined based on the total number of points each goalie receives. Every vote is assigned a point total, with first place receiving five points, second place receiving three points and third place receiving one point.
