BOSTON (AUGUST 18, 2016) – Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that Ohio Machine midfielder  Tom Schreiber has been named the 2016 Coca-Cola Most Valuable Player, as voted by MLL Head Coaches and General Managers. Schreiber, a three-season midfielder for Ohio, earned four first place “Most Valuable Player” votes for his dominant play on the field and impact on the Machine’s season. Schreiber played in all 14 regular season games and tallied 60 points from 23 goals, including a two-pointer, and 36 assists. He also picked up a career-high 23 groundballs. Schreiber’s 60 points ranks first among Machine teammates and third among scoring leaders for the season. His league-leading 36 assists also ranks seventh for the single-season assists record. This is his second consecutive 60-point season. With a talent heavy Ohio Machine team, Schreiber provided vision on the field and efficient passing. Through the first five games of the season, Schreiber had already racked up 18 assists. In Week 4, the Machine ran past the New York Lizards behind nine points from Schreiber, including a season-high seven assists. The following week, Schreiber led all scorers with six points (3G, 3A) and earned “Coca-Cola Player of the Game” honors. The offensive efficiency continued all season with Schreiber tallying at least two points in all but one game. In the final regular season game, the Machine found themselves in a must-win situation against the Lizards to advance to the playoffs. Schreiber scored two goals and dished out six assists, a couple of which went to teammate John Grant Jr. who scored a record-setting 10 goals in the 22-13 victory. The Machine finished with a regular season record of 8-6 and advanced to the playoffs as the top seed. In the Semi-Finals, Schreiber added two more assists in the Machine’s 16-10 victory over the Charlotte Hounds.
