Phillip Benz, Benjamin LSM, Headed to Denison

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
Phillip Benz, a senior LSM from Benjamin, will be joining the class of 2017 at D3 Denison.  Denison is a top tier D3 program in Granville, OH.  The Big Red were 15-2 in the 2012 season making it to the third round of the NCAA  Tournament before losing to Stevenson. In addition to playing for Coach Riordan Cheetham at Benjamin, Benz played for Palm Beach Storm and is a member of  Team Florida. From Benz, “After looking at a handful of Division 1 and Division 3 school, I chose Denison because I believed it would be the best place for me to find a perfect balance between academics and lacrosse. I will most likely major in economics as I aspire to work as a business executive. I would like to first thank Jim Jacobs for starting rec lax in Jupiter in 2001 and later founding Rip Tide lacrosse (Jupiter’s first travel team) with Coach Billy Allen, another long-time coach and supporter of mine. Also I would like to thank Storm lacrosse founder, coach, and friend Shane Rye for his guidance and knowledge both on and off the field, including his gym where a majority of Storm and Benjamin players work out. There are few people in the world that will work as hard for someone else as does Shane Rye. Also, thanks and appreciation to Riordan Cheetham, Benjamin head coach and dear friend, for four unforgettable years of Varsity Lacrosse. Since 2001 in rec, travel, and high school lacrosse much love and thanks to the best team mom Daisy Jacobs. Finally, I would like to thank my parents for their non-stop love and support. None of my successes could of been possible without the great people I have been lucky to come across in my life.”
