Providence Takes District 5 in OT – 8-7 Over Fletcher

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
The energy was high on a cool evening @ Mandarin High last night. Both Providence and Fletcher showed up prepared to win the championship game. It was a grueling battle, with hardly any penalties called. Both goalies showed up with some amazing saves. Fletcher scored first, within the first 2 minutes of the game, and managed to keep the lead until the 3rd quater. It was 3-5 at the half. It was a tie of 6-6 at the end of the 3rd. Then 7-7 when the time ran out. The sudden death goal by #1 of Providence gave them the win. It was a heartbreaker due to it being a man down situation. Jarrod Sylvia and Graham Van led their respective teams with 3 goals each.
Providence moves on to a first round matchup with Ponte Vedra. Congratulations goes to both teams who played hard!
