McDonogh wins 7-5 It was a real battle in the game between two national Ppwerhouse teams, McDonogh of Maryland coming in ranked number 8 in the nation and St. Andrew’s of Florida ranked number 1 in the Southeast. McDonogh started out fast with two quick goals, and the Scots started out a little slow, then Andy Wheeler added the first for the Scots making the score 1-2, then McDonogh added a third goal before the end of the 1st quarter. The second quarter had pretty even scoring with Grant “Taco” Mahler and Conor Whipple adding a goal each for the Scots. McDonogh added three more in the second. In the second half, the St. Andrew’s defense tightened up and only allowed one more goal the rest of the game, but were only able to make up 2 of the four goals (both by Jake Levine with assists from Andy Wheeler and Steve Reall) they needed against a very big, athletic McDonogh defense. McDonogh’s goalie was tremendous the entire game and made it hard for the Scots to get back the early lead they gave up.
