St. Andrew’s Takes Championship

By: Wells Dusenbury of ESPN760.com One of the rallying cries for St. Andrew’s throughout the 2012 season has been, “taking back what’s ours.” On Saturday night, the Scots finally did so. In a rematch of last year’s state championship, St. Andrew’s knocked off Lake Highland Prep 16-10 to avenge last year’s loss and recapture the state title.  Early on it looked like Lake Highland Prep might make it two in a row after jumping out to an early 5-1 lead. That feeling would be short-lived though as the Scots went on a 7-2 run to take an 8-7 lead into halftime. From there, St. Andrew’s asserted its dominance, outscoring the Highlanders by four in the 3rd quarter to take a 14-9 lead and put the game out of reach. Scots attackman Conor Whipple led St. Andrew’s with 4 goals, while senior attackman Jordan Todd added 3 in the win.   Score by Quarter Home –  Lake Highland: 4,3,2,1 Visitor – St. Andrews: 1,7,6,2  Scorers: Lake Highland: Devon Lewis (2-1-3), Austin Tamayo (2-1-3), Clay Phillips (2-1-3), Ryan Johnson (2-1-3), Will Wolfson (1-0-1), Davis Anderson (1-0-1), Billy Roll (0-1-1)  St. Andrews: Connor Whipple (4-0-4), Jordon Todd( 3-0-3), Jake Levine (2-1-3), Stephen Reall (2-1-3), Ben Kennedy (2-1-3), Max Susskind (1-1-2), Jake Fields (1-1-2), Kyle Clemenza (1-1-2), Grant Mahler (0-2-2)
