Sticks Up for Sam: FSU v UF game in support of Hagerty Sophomore Sam Wainman

Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
On Friday April 18th, the Florida State University Lacrosse team will be playing in honor of Sam Wainman, who suffers from Lymphoma cancer, during their annual contest against the University of Florida. Sam is a sophomore defenseman at Hagerty High School in Oviedo, FL and was diagnosed with Lymphoma in November 2013 and has been fighting like a champ going through multiple rounds of chemotherapy. Brought forward by former Hagerty and current FSU player Erik Marshall, the Seminoles have decided to go all in for Sam for the upcoming game against the Gators. Both teams will be wearing lime green attire in their uniforms in support of Sam and his fight against Lymphoma. Game time is at 7pm at Bill Harkins field on FSU campus. Donations are encouraged and will be accepted before and during the game at the field gate. All money raised will be used to support Sam and his family. It’s time for the lacrosse community to come together to show support for Sam when he needs it most. Looking forward to a large turnout for a great game and an even better cause. Stay strong for Sam! FSU Head Coach Matt Doyle adds, “Our FSU team is made up of a bunch of tough guys, but this team also recognizes right from wrong. We as a team have a player named Erik Marshall, his friend Sam is sick, and it didn’t take the Nole family one second to say “let’s help!”. Sam will win this fight and FSU lax will win because Sam knows the Noles lax team has his back! We will play 100% for Sam. I will put my heart and soul in this game like Sam has put his heart and soul in to beating Lymphoma. FSU is ready. Oh boy are we ready!” For more info and updates on Sam’s fight check out www.samwainman.com  If you are unable to make the game, there is a PayPal account set up on Sam’s website as well that you are able to make donations to. The account is accessible under the “help/support” tab on the website, at the bottom of the page.
