Sweetlax Florida Wins King of the Hill

McDaniel College, MD — June 20-22nd Sweetlax Florida 2018 played at the King of the Hill tournament where they walked away tournament champions for their division in their first tournament. After a competitive few days of play and a loss to Carolina earlier in the week in overtime, the team rallied to come back and defeat Carolina in the Championship game. The team worked as a unit with all players standing out throughout the tournament. Nick Ferraro (Goalie, Saint Andrew’s School) was the glue to the team during this tournament, stepping up to provide direction to his teammates. Mikey Berkman (Attack, Dr. Phillips High School – committed to Syracuse) was the leading scorer for the tournament while Jackson Kennedy (Defense, Saint Andrew’s School), Connor Purcell (Defense, Seminole High School) and Braedon Rupp (LSM, Oxbridge Academy) acted in unison protecting the cage on Defense. Nick Ferraro (Goalie, Saint Andrew’s School) , Mikey Berkman (Attack, Dr. Phillips High School), Nick Iznaga (Attack, Saint Andrew’s School) and George Greer (Midfield, Salisbury School) all made the tournament All-Star team. “I have been excited about this team since we put it together and I am more than proud that the team I knew we put together is being showcased. I have received a lot of positive feedback from Coaches on this team and I look forward to seeing where we are going to go from here with this team.” – Director of Recruiting, Kevin Martin. Sweetlax Florida is an extension of the Upstate program that will field highly competitive teams that will compete in the Summer and Fall. The teams compliment their town team program. Sweetlax is about College Placement and Player Development. The 2019 Sweetlax Upstate team is one of the leading club programs in the Country with 11 players already committed to Division I Schools including Maryland, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Johns Hopkins, amongst others.
