Tampa Drops a Close One against No. 3 Limestone

FromTampaSpartans.com GAFFNEY, S.C. – The University of Tampa lost its second game of the season to No. 3 Limestone College by a score of 13-7. Tampa drops to 4-2 while Limestone remains undefeated at 6-0. Kyle Hemrick struck first at the 9:45 mark with his fourth goal of the season. Freshman Jonathan Franzese had the assist on the goal. However, 23 seconds later, Limestone tied it up with a goal by Riley Loewen. The Spartan attack retaliated shortly after with an unassisted goal by M.J. Lorenzo. It was Lorenzo’s fifth goal of the season. With 4:32 left in the first period, Corey Rich for Limestone tied it back up at two with an unassisted goal of his own. During a man-up opportunity, Franzese scored to break the 2-2 tie with a feed from Jasper Gantick. 24 seconds later Franzese netted another putting the Spartans up 4-2. The two goal lead for UT wouldn’t last long as LC went on to score seven straight in the second and third periods to take a 9-4 advantage. Jeff Clements cut into the five goal deficit with 2:58 remaining in the third period from a Greg Griffo pass. The Saints came out in the fourth scoring three straight and extending their lead to 12-5. The third goal was a man-up score by Tor Reinholdt. Franzese completed his hat trick at the 8:07 mark in the fourth period, with Hemrick recording the assist. The seventh and final goal for the Spartans came from Clements again, with Franzese registering his second assist and fifth point of the game. Limestone scored one more before the game ended giving them a 13-7 lead. Jackson Decker had a game high of four goals and Reinholdt added three as well.
