WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 28, 2011)-The Rollins men’s lacrosse team has announced their 2011-12 roster and is very excited about the wealth of new talent along with key veterans. Leading the way for the Tars is two-time All-Deep South defensemen, Nick Scannapieco and former pre-season All-American, Andrew Vossler. Scannapieco, a Lower Gwynedd, Pa. native, led the team in caused turnovers (23), collected 33 groundballs and tallied a goal in his 2011 campaign. Scannapieco is the first player in program history to earn two-consecutive All-Conference nominations and will lead a talented defense in the upcoming season. Vossler, a Manlius, N.Y. native, looks to rebound from a tough injury that hampered his play and looks for a breakout 2012 season. The 2010 pre-season All-American looks to bring the same high level of play that garnered him the honor. Rollins will benefit from his leadership on and off the field. Another key returner is sophomore Jack Dever, a Huntington, N.Y. native, who looks to run a very young offensive group. Dever is coming off a very productive 2011 campaign with 15 goals and 7 assists to total 22 points. Joining Dever on the offensive side of the ball is Austin Ricci, who led the Tars in scoring with 25 goals and one assist. The Winter Park product garnered All-Conference honors for his breakthrough season. Rollins will welcome one of their best recruiting classes to date with the addition of some highly touted freshmen. Connor Ronan and Connor O’Leary will look to fill the void from last year’s squad and make their own mark in the blue and gold on the defensive end. The Tars will add strength and skill in the midfield with Connor Galvin from St. Paul’s HS, Will Hauver from McDonogh School and Billy Pray, who attended John Jay. The trio comes from three highly regarded high school programs and has transitioned very well into the program. Will Diamond will also join the fray and look to impart his high IQ and crafty attacking skills to put goals on the scoreboard. The program has also attracted four transfer students, who look to gain valuable experience with the Tars. Oliver Moore joins the squad after spending a year at Mount St. Mary’s and will look to add speed and athleticism to the midfield. Andrew Sheerin, a goalie from Washington College also hopes to make an impact on the Tars defense. Sheerin is a natural leader and will look to lead a strong defensive unit. Also coming over from Washington College are Chris McArdle and Taylor White with both bringing their talents and experience. Rollins continues their preparation in the fall and look forward to a very productive spring when they open their 2012 season against Mars Hill on February 9th.
