Timber Creek Alumn, Kory Lutes, scores 3 for Pfieffer

Florida Southern fell behind early and was not able to mount a comeback, as Pfeiffer defeated the Moccasins, 12-4, Sunday night at Bryant Stadium. With the win, Pfieffer improves to 4-1 on the season, while the Mocs fall to 2-4. Pfieffer scored first, as Kory Lutes shot found the back of the cage. James Shepherd added a goal to give the Falcons a 2-0 advantage after the first period. The Falcons added five goals on seven shots in the second quarter, including two goals by Lutes, to take a 7-0 lead into the half. The Mocs got on the scoreboard in the third quarter, as Kevin Naslonski scoring a goal two and half minutes in. Jon Freda continued the scoring, cutting the lead to 7-2, with 8:27 left in the period. Pfieffer responded with a four goal run that gave the Falcons an 11-2 lead after three quarters. Justin Rose’s goal one minute into the fourth quarter capped the Falcons’ scoring. FSC’s Ike Hopper found A.J. Monteleone cutting to the cage for a goal with 9:08 remaining. Mat Thompson scored a man up goal for the 12-4 final. Freda finished the game with one goal and one assist. Brad Fretti and Spencer Parry each had three ground balls. The Moccasins will return to action Thursday night at Bryant Stadium when they take on Notre Dame de Namur University of California. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
