Timber Creek’s Jake Rooney headed to Hofstra

Timber Creek’s Jake Rooney verbally committed to Hofstra Pride lacrosse in late January of this year. Jake began playing lacrosse in 4th grade and has many coaches and mentors whom he would like to thank for all of his accomplishments on and off the field.

First, Rooney stated “I would not be where I am today if Coach Tony (Moreschi) had not been there constantly pushing me to reach my true potential. Not only did he want me to flourish on the lacrosse field but also in all aspects of life”. Coach Tony has coached Jake for 7 years through the Youth Jokers Club and for two years at the high school level.

Coach Brian Davis (Trinity Prep and Jokers Club Coach) was the coach who always took the time to ensure that both my hands were up to par, and most importantly, he always treated me like I was family.

Playing for Team Florida last year helped elevate my game. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to learn from several Team Florida coaches; Tom West (Ponte Vedra), Chris Spaulding (Lake Highland), and Coach Jeff Goldberg. Being part of the Team Florida U-19 Team that won the 2010 Fall Classic in Charlotte was awesome.

“One thing that I have learned from this process is the only way you will reach success is by hard work!” The hard work continues for Jake. This summer Jake will continue playing for the Creek Jokers Lacrosse Club, will try out for Team Florida again, and hopes to play in a few US Lacrosse tournaments.
