Holy Trinity got off the bus playing fast and hard, holding Trinity Prep scoreless for the first 5 minutes.  But long, controlled offensive possessions by the Trinity Prep offense led by sophomore attackman Luke Macchia wore down an athletic Holy Trinity defense.  Macchia got the scoring going with two goals 20 seconds apart midway through the first quarter and it was all Trinity Prep from there.

Scoring was led by Junior Dylan Davis (VMI)  with 6 goals and 2 assists.  Luke Macchia had 4 goals and 2 assists and junior LSM Ryan Hinkley scored two goals and picked up two assists.  Freshman Tyler Nemec, sophomore Brock Lilley, and sophomore Travis Fredrick also scored goals for Trinity Prep.  With senior defensive leader Tom Huffsmith (one of Trinity Prep’s two seniors) out for the game junior Jon Wiese stepped up his game and led a suffocating defense for Trinity Prep.  He teamed with Senior Justin Felder, Junior Nick Canetella, and sophomore Jake Smith to hold Holy Trinity to 9 shots for the game.

The Holy Trinity goals came from Victor Ranner, Christian Malias, and Calvin Quigley.  Quigley’s goal came on an 80 yard “Gilman” clear that was mishandled by Trinity Prep goalie, Reid Gill, who saw the ball bounce in front of him and over his head as he came out to play it.  The ball managed to find the net for one of the craziest goals of the season.
