Two Floridians, Rob Dattolo and Hunter Barnett, Introduced by Rutger’s coach Brian Brecht

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Oct. 9, 2012) – The Rutgers men’s lacrosse program has welcomed 22 newcomers to join second-year head coach Brian Brecht “On the Banks”, it was announced Tuesday. The fresh Scarlet Knight group features 10 student-athletes who earned All-America recognition during their high school careers, as well as two RU players who have showcased their talents internationally. “I’m excited to welcome our first recruiting class to Rutgers as student-athletes,” Brecht said. “As a staff, assistant coaches Keith Cromwell, Craig McDonald and Noah Fossner worked very hard and put a lot of time into bringing this strong and well rounded class to ‘The Banks’. It has been a pleasure working with these young men this fall, as I look forward to having them mesh with our upperclassmen. They will gain experience as we grow the program.  With our upcoming fall scrimmages less than a week away, it will be nice to see them in their first college action as Scarlet Knights.” The nationally renowned contingent included seven players who earned nine total US All-America recognitions. Freshmen attackmen Jacob Coretti (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Nick Kilkowski (Summit, N.J.) were both named US All-Americans twice, with Coretti taking the honors from 2010-11 and Kilkowski earning the recognition from 2011-12. Goalie Kris Alleyne (New City, N.Y.), attackman Scott Bieda (Bridgewater, N.J.), defenseman Luke Enzweiler (Raleigh, N.C.), defenseman Nate Gowen (Amherst, N.Y.) and Zack Sikora (Clifton, Va.) also earned US All-America nods in 2012. Freshman midfielder Pat Carotenuto (West Chester, Md.) and freshman defenseman Eric Cooley (Yorktown, N.Y.) played internationally before arriving “On the Banks”, with Carotenuto serving as a member of Italy’s 2012 European Championships squad in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Cooley played on Finland’s U-19 team in the 2012 World Lacrosse Championship in Germany. Three new Scarlet Knights entered the fall with previous collegiate experience. Junior midfielder Steve DiGiovanni (Cranford, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Rich Rambo (Glenside, Pa.) previously played at Hofstra, while sophomore faceoff specialist Brian Lenskold (Martinsville, N.J.) played at Manhattan. Brecht’s group of newcomers arrived at Rutgers from seven different states, with seven coming from the “Garden State”. Six in the class call New York home, while two Scarlet Knights each came from Florida, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
