University defeats Ocoee 8-5

The University High Cougars resumed season play against the visiting Ocoee High Knights Wednesday night at Cougar Stadium. Things started very slow for both teams and the game remained close for most of the game. Senior Frank Schornagle landed the 1st score of the game off of an assist from Junior Stephen Hill. Ocoee answered shortly after with 2 goals to claim the lead. Ocoee held on to a 4-3 lead at the half. The Cougars took the lead in the 3rd quarter with timely goals from junior Jerod Coffman and senior Kyle McDavid. At the end of three the scored was knotted up at 5-5.  Senior Tyler Boncore added a score in the 4th along with another 2 from McDavid to end the game 8-5 in favor of the Cougars. The win moves UHS to a 7-5 record with 4 games to play in the season.  Next up for University is a road game at Lake Nona (5-6).  Ocoee (5-6) will host First Academy (9-3) on Friday evening.
