Saturday night the Florida Launch hosted the annual the end of season banquet for the South Florida Chapter of US Lacrosse. All-Americans, Academic All-Americans and special award winners were honored. As I have said before, this evening is one of the very best events of the year.
Chapter president Robert Rose kicked off the evening and handed the podium to our friend Wells Dusenbury from the Sun-Sentinel who served as master of ceremonies. Launch president Brian Clinton organized the venue and speakers such as new Jacksonville University assistant coach and lacrosses ambassador, Syracuse and Launch great, Casey Powell. In the pictures below, you will notice several coaches shown with players they presented. Every year there are a few players and coaches who are unable to attend so often times opposing coaches present honored players. A particular highlight was Pine Crest coach Eileen Pliske’s presentation of Benjamin’s Autumn Ryan. Long time foes, but certainly friends, Coach Pliske explained the defensive schemes she developed just for Autumn. Briana Tedesco was honored as an All-American, but she also won the Jackie Pitts award for her years of volunteer work in Coral Springs. A special young lady from a special family. Coach Seaman encouraged all of the players to give back to the game in the years ahead. Great advice from one who knows. The evening was a huge success, and we at FLN were privileged to attend.
