Written by Lee Roggenburg on . Posted in .
TAMPA, Fla. – University of Tampa head men’s lacrosse coach Rory Whipple has announced the addition of Dalton Jernigan to the coaching staff for the 2012-13 season. “Dalton is an excellent addition to the Tampa lacrosse family. His familiarity with Deep South Conference opponents over the past four seasons and his enthusiasm to learn and excel as a young coach make him a valuable asset to our coaching staff this season,” Whipple stated. Jernigan was a standout defenseman for Mars Hill College, where he graduated in the spring of 2012 with a degree in business administration. During his career at Mars Hill, the Lions won Deep South Conference regular season titles in 2009 and 2010, as well as 2011 where he was team captain. Dalton was an all-Deep South Conference selection in 2011 and 2012 and was named Deep South Conference Defensemen of the Year in 2011. In the summer of 2010, Jernigan was a member of the New Westminster Salmonbellies organization, and played for the Burnaby Laker Junior A Squad of the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League in 2011. Jernigan will be responsible for strength and conditioning for the UT Lacrosse program, as well as assist with the defense, recruiting and day to day operations.
