Winter Park’s Salcido Leads ‘Cuse Past Albany to Advance

From Syracuse.com Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse lacrosse team stormed back in the second half to capture a 11-9 win over Albany on Sunday night in a NCAA Tournament opening-round game in the Carrier Dome. Tim Barber, Jordan Evans and Sergio Salcido each scored twice for SU. Goalie Evan Molloy made 12 stops for Syracuse and Blaze Riorden denied nine for the Great Danes. The eighth-seeded Orange (12-4) will take on No. 1 Maryland in a quarterfinal Saturday in Providence. That game will be at noon and will be televised by ESPNU. Syracuse powered back for a 9-2 edge in the second half to keep its season alive. Salcidio’s second of the game snapped an 8-8 tie with 9:54 left, and Joe Gillis put the Orange ahead by two on a goal with 7:15 remaining. Adam Osika drew the Great Danes within 10-9 with 6:48 remaining, but Evans’ second of the contest with 4:12 left closed the issue. Read the rest at Syracuse.com
