Mar. 26th) – Lake Highland (9-1; 5-0 district) traveled to south Florida on Saturday and recorded a convincing 15 to 4 win against the Raiders of Gulliver Prep. LHP was led by senior Will Rotatori who scored 4 goals and assisted on four more. The visitors also received outstanding goalie play from senior Warren Berenis (10 saves) and a stifling transition defense caused numerous turnovers and immediate scoring opportunities off failed Gulliver clearing attempts. After Highlander senior Nick St. Laurent opened the game with his 13th goal of the season at the :47 mark, Lake Highland missed on numerous scoring chances and despite controlling the early tempo found themselves down 2-1 after the first quarter on two Gulliver goals in the last 1:18. Rotatori then scored the first of his goals on a man-up situation to open the second period and LHP never looked back, scoring the next seven unanswered goals to take a 9-2 lead deep into the third period. The Highlander defense never relented, allowing just two Gulliver scores over the last three quarters of the game. The Lake Highland young guns shone brightly this day with seven of the team’s goals coming from Sophomores Devon Lewis (3 goals), Billy Roll (2 goals) and Clay Phillips (2 goals) along with an eighth goal and three assists from Junior attack Austin Tamayo. The Highlander youth movement can do more than just put the ball in the net as Junior Davis Anderson added 7 ground balls to his team leading 47 pick-ups on the season. Anderson also teamed with Junior Malcolm Clayton to dominate the face-off X winning 10 of 14 attempts between them. The Highlanders next prepare to face Lake Brantley on Monday evening, March 28th.
