Lynn surges past #24 Mount Olive

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 20th-ranked Lynn University women’s lacrosse team pushed its winning streak to three games following a 17-5 defeat of 24th-ranked Mount Olive, Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are now 4-1 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
– Lynn scored nine goals in the first half and tacked on eight in the second half
– The Fighting Knight defense limited the Trojans to just five goals, four in the second half
– Lynn led 36-20 in shots, finished 19-of-20 on clear attempts and held a 14-10 edge in draw controls
– Sophomore Rebecca Clark and junior Kristyn Johnson opened the scoring in the first quarter for a 2-0 cushion just before the midway point
– The Trojans scored their only goal of the first half late in the first quarter to narrow the deficit to 2-1
– The Fighting Knights closed the half with seven-straight goals for a 9-1 cushion at intermission
– Johnson started the run with 1:26 left in the first quarter, while freshman Lily Marshall scored twice during the outburst
– Sophomore Hannah Exley scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter as Lynn built its lead to 13-3 following the first 45 minutes of play
– Exley and Marshall each scored their third goals in the fourth as the visitors built the final score to 17-5
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
– Clark scored two goals, added two assists, scooped up four ground balls and had one draw control
– Exley, Marshall, freshman Catie O’Connor and freshman Hannah Connors each finished with three points
– Johnson and senior Diane Dohler each scored two goals
– Sophomore Elizabeth Clagett finished with one goal, one assist, four ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls
– Sophomore Isabella Connelly had five draw controls
– Sophomore Katelyn Andrews stopped six shots in 45 minutes in goal for the win
