#6 Women’s Lacrosse Selected for NCAA Regional; Mocs Head to Tampa as #2 Seed

LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 6 Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse team saw its name selected Sunday evening as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NCAA Division II South Region tournament slated May 12-14 at the University of Tampa, the no. 3 team in the country and no. 1 seed in the region.

Four teams from the South were selected to participate in this year’s south region. Joining the top-seeded Spartans (17-2) and the no. 2 seed Moccasins (16-3), were the third seed No. 10 Flagler Saints (17-1) and fourth seed No. 8 Rollins (15-3).

Two of the four teams repeat as contenders in the South Region tournament with Florida Southern repeating as the second-seed, and Tampa joining the Mocs as
returnees to the tournament where the Spartans were the fourth seed a year ago.

Tampa and Rollins will open the regional Friday, May 12 at 11:00 am before Florida Southern and Flagler face off at 3:00 pm at Naimoli Family Athletic Complex in Tampa, Fla. The regional championship, or the NCAA Second Round, is set for Sunday, May 14 at 12:00 pm the winner, advancing to the National Semifinals on May 19 in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Mocs are 2-2 against the field this season falling in two matchups to Tampa with a pair of two-goal wins over Rollins. 

Florida Southern is making its seventh appearance in the NCAA tournament, where the Mocs are 8-5 overall with three trips to the national title game, including winning the crown in 2016 before finishing runners-up in 2017 and 2018.
