
All-SSC Men’s Lacrosse Selections for 2023

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Forty-four student-athletes have been recognized as All-Conference in the 10th year of Sunshine State Conference men’s lacrosse. Rollins College’s Shahé Katchadurian takes home Player of the Year recognition, while his coach, Chris Lewis, is awarded Coach of the Year honors. Greg Palmer from Saint Leo University is tabbed as Freshman of the Year. Voting for the All-SSC Men’s Lacrosse honors was conducted among the league’s head coaches.

Katchadurian becomes the first goalkeeper to win SSC Player of the Year accolades. The Goldens Bridge, New York product recorded a league-leading .610 save percentage in conference play, helping pilot Rollins to its first undefeated SSC season. Katchadurian registered 89 saves and allowed 57 goals for an 8.72 goals-against average in league play. He finished with 12.54 saves per game and a .599 save percentage over 13 regular season contests. He is the second Rollins athlete to win the league’s top award in men’s lacrosse1. The Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year award is presented by College Ave Student Loans.
Palmer, an attackman from Holland Landing, Ontario, started all 15 games for Saint Leo during the regular season. Following his 45 goals and 22 assists this season, Palmer ranks second in SSC points per game at 4.47, fourth in goals per game at 3.00, and eighth in assists per game at 1.47. He is the first Lion to be named Freshman of the Year in men’s lacrosse.
Lewis is honored by his peers as Coach of the Year. With his guidance, the Tars program won its first SSC regular season title and currently holds the No. 3 ranking in the USILA national poll. The Tars went undefeated in SSC play (7-0) and finished the regular season with a program-best .929 winning percentage following a 13-1 record. Lewis is the first men’s lacrosse Coach of the Year honoree from Rollins.
Highlighting the repeat All-SSC honorees are Matthew Beddow and Gunner Gebelein from the University of Tampa. Beddow, the 2022 SSC Player of the Year and 2022 USILA Raymond J. Enners Outstanding Player of the Year earns his third consecutive First Team All-SSC award. Gebelein becomes the fifth SSC men’s lacrosse athlete to earn All-Conference accolades four times2. Before this year’s second team nod, Gebelein was awarded two First Team and one Second Team honor at Palm Beach Atlantic University. In total, 11 athletes honored in 2023 repeat as All-SSC First or Second Team. Nine of this year’s awardees began their careers as members of the All-SSC Freshman Team, including four former Freshman of the Year winners.
