Lacrosse Season 3: Movers of Week 3

The penultimate week is in the books and all eyes now turn to Week Four where a champion will be crowned.

Here’s a look at which players made the biggest jumps on the leaderboard in Week Three.

MOVER OF THE WEEK

Caylee Waters picked up 415 points in Week Three, which was the most of any player. She climbed 18 spots on the leaderboard into the No. 8 spot with 889 points overall.

She tallied 28 in three games and helped Team Apuzzo to a 2-1 week. She earned 250 win points, aided by a sweep against Team Glynn on Thursday.

Waters also posted eight saves in a shutout first half in Saturday’s matchup against Team Bosco. She went on to finish the game with 13 saves and thwarted Team Bosco’s shootout attempts, earning MVP 1 honors.

A FAMILIAR FOE

It’s deja vu all over again. Taylor Moreno and Sam Apuzzo will enter Week Four of the 2023 season the same way they did in 2022: No. 1 and No. 2 on the leaderboard.

Last week, we took a look at how the two compare across the point categories. Here’s how things are shaping up after Week Three.

  • Win Points
    • Moreno: 545 Points | Apuzzo: 755 Points
  • Stat Points
    • Moreno: 621 Points | Apuzzo: 246 Points
  • MVP Points
    • Moreno: 135 Points | Apuzzo: 240 Points

Moreno’s lead in the stat point category has grown to 375 points, but Apuzzo has increased the gap in win points to 210.

Overall, Apuzzo has cut the deficit to 60 points heading into Week Three and with a race this close, Sunday’s finale is one you don’t want to miss.

Week 4 Draft Results

On Sunday, the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse Champion will be crowned.

But, before we get there, the four captains from Week Three returned to draft the rosters they hope will give them the best chance of earning the title.

Despite going 1-2, Taylor Moreno (1,301 points) held the No. 1 spot on the leaderboard aided by 14 saves in a strong effort to close Week Three with a 9-6 victory against Team Apuzzo. Moreno made 31 stops across three games.

Apuzzo (1,241 points) scored six goals in the first two games of the week, but was held scoreless in the week’s final matchup against Team Moreno. She picked up 350 points in Week Three, including 60 from MVP honors. Heading into Week Four, she trails Moreno by 60 points.

Rounding out the final two spots in the Top 4 are returning captains Abby Bosco (1,041 points) and Kady Glynn (1,035 points). Bosco led her team to a 2-1 record this week picking up 250 win points and MVP 2 honors. Glynn went 1-2 on the week and made 21 saves.

Meet the Week Four Teams of Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse Season 3.

Editor’s Note: Due to a technical error which impacted our scoring on Aug. 6, the points between the third and fourth place captains were incorrectly allocated. As a result, the Lacrosse Player Executive Committee elected to redraft new teams for Week 4. The updated order of captains is Taylor Moreno (Gold), Sam Apuzzo (Orange), Abby Bosco (Blue), and Kady Glynn (Purple). The teams below reflect the newly drafted teams for Week Four.
