FGCU’s Andino Earns Warrior Honor

ATLANTA – After helping Florida Gulf Coast post a pair of important non-conference victories, Eagles senior attackman Jayson Andino is the MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending March 26.

The Naples, Fla., product opened the weekend with five goals and an assist as FGCU rolled over Bridgewater State, 18-1.

The next day, the Eagles ran up against No. 12 UNC-Charlotte and thanks to a hat trick from Andino, Florida Gulf Coast walked away with an impressive, 9-7 road victory.

“Jay is the driving force behind our offensive success this year,” said Florida Gulf Coach Vinnie Valentine. “He is one of the hardest working guys I have had the honor to coach.

“He simply just does not know how to not go 100 percent with anything he does. He’s the type of player who makes everyone else on the field better. It has been an honor to coach him and see the way his game as continuous evolved over the years.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Andino will receive a Warrior EVO QX-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
