Breaking: Chalk Holds on the Boys’ Side But Upheaval on the Girls’ Side!

Just got home from the Benjamin 10-4 win over a game Barron Collier squad playing without star attackman Connor McGraw.
Full game recap tomorrow.
Down in Ft. Lauderdale it looks like STA has pulled awy from Gulliver in the third quarter and now leads 8-2, so it looks like we get the rematch from last year’s incredible semifinal.
Up in Orlando it was an easy win for LHP over Berkeley Prep 20-4.
Seth Austin was on hand and will write up hopefully before he gets on a plane tomorrow.
Also in that area it was Lake Mary holding on for the 9-8 win over visiting Bolles, setting up the rematch of the 2015 semifinals game with LHP.
Not too much surprise here . . .
BUT
On the Girls side we have two upsets in the South . . .
In Ft. Lauderdale it was St. Thomas knocking off previously undefeated American Heritage/Delray 10-9 in OT after AH/D rallied for two goals late to tie it up.
And in another eye opener it was Barron Collier traveling to Vero Beach and taking down the Indians by the score of 9-7.
Neither upset was completely shocking. STA was ranked a few spots below AH/D in this week’s Inside Lacrosse National Top 25 poll and Wells and I saw Barron Collier in their trip to AH/D earlier this season and we were both impressed by them too.
In the Girls northern brackets it was Ponte Vedra going south to trip up Oak Hall 13-10 and in Orlando it was Bishop Moore comfortably moving on with the 19-8 win over Newsome
So, assuming STA wins we have . . .
Girls Semifinals
Ponte Vedra vs Bishop Moore
Barron Collier vs St. Thomas Aquinas
Boys Semifinals
Lake Mary vs LHP
St. Thomas Aquinas vs Benjamin
We’ll be giving you the details of the upcoming championship weekend as soon as we can.
It will be a great weekend of lacrosse . . . Be there!
