KU HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Seahawks earned a spot in the NAIA National Tournament with their win this afternoon against No. 8 SCAD.
  • Craig Marentette and Jacob Bomberry each finished with five goals. Justin Flint and Nolan Duncan chipped in with two goals apiece.
  • Chad Strauss went 21-30 in the faceoff circle while picking up a game-high 11 groundballs.
  • Jake Padden moved to 7-1 on the year in goal with 14 saves.

TURNING POINT
The turning point came when the Seahawks trailed 5-1 but scored 11 unanswered goals over two and half quarters to reclaim a 12-5 lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Marentette started the scoring in the game but the Bees answered with five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 advantage.
  • The Seahawks responded with 11 straight goals to reclaim a 12-5 advantage with 1:28 left in the third quarter.
  • A  Duncan goal off an assist by Flint with 1:27 left in the first quarter started the run for the Seahawks.
  • In the second quarter, the Seahawks pitched a shutout while outscoring SCAD 7-0. Marentette notched three goals, Bomberry and Flint each had two apiece to take a 9-5 lead into the half.
  • Goals by Bomberry, Lucas Muzzey, and Eddie Grieco upped the margin to 12-5 before SCAD finally found the back, with two and half minutes into the fourth.
  • Bomberry matched the goal but the Bees tacked on three more goals to climb within 13-9 with 7:47 to play in the fourth.
  • After trading goals, Marentette and Duncan scored to take a 16-10 lead but SCAD scored with eight seconds left in the contest to fall by the final of 16-11.
