Dolphins Fall to Second-Ranked Duke on the Road
DURHAM, N.C. — On the road in their final contest of a three-game road trip, the Jacksonville University men’s lacrosse team fell 23-7, with a highly touted Duke offense capitalizing on a first-quarter run to propel them to the win.
The Numbers
Jack Taylor and Anthony Caputo led offensively, scoring the first two goals of the game for the Dolphins as both would add on one more goal apiece on the night. Chris Darminio picked up six ground balls, leading the team in that category. Taylor was the team leader in points for JU, scoring his two goals and adding an assist.
Sam Chase and Tucker Garrity added goals to the offensive side, with Ethan LaMond scoring once as well to round out JU’s goal scorers.
How It Happened
Taylor opened the scoring for both sides in the game, with Duke grabbing momentum after with a seven-goal run to make it 7-1 in the first. Caputo ended the scoring drought with his first goal in a Dolphin uniform to make it a 7-2 game heading into the second quarter.
Duke continued to push the lead, outscoring the Dolphins 6-1 in the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Dolphins picked up three goals, as Chase, Garrity and LaMond each found gaps in the Blue Devil defense.
