Eight to Join ERAU Women’s Lacrosse in 2023-24

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Head women’s lacrosse coach Caitlin Villareal Kenahan announced that eight individuals have signed National Letters of Intent to play for Embry-Riddle for the 2023-24 academic year.

The list of signees includes Sophia Bordone, Allison Cimaglia, Ella-Rae Cox, Eliana Enners, Caitlin Gavin, Madeline Nees, Ava Rogala and Whittaker Smith.

Sophia Bordone
5-6
Defense

Hailing from Severna Park, Maryland, Bordone plays prep lacrosse for Severna Park High School and club lacrosse for MD United 2023 West. She helped SPHS to county and regionally titles in 2021 and the Falcons were also state finalists that season. Bordone also letters in track was part of two Indoor Track County Champion 4x200m relay teams. She has won a Minds in Motion Award, is a member of the National Honor Society and the National English Society and will pursue a degree in Aerospace Physiology.

Allison Cimaglia
5-4
Midfield/Attack

Cimaglia (Stevensville, Maryland) will have the opportunity to play college lacrosse with her sister Emily who is currently a sophomore on the ERAU lacrosse team. The Kent High School product has enjoyed success as a two-sport athlete for the Trojans. She was a two-time Offensive Player of the Year in lacrosse and earned All-State honorable mention and First Bayside Team honors as a goalkeeper in field hockey. Cimaglia is Bordone’s teammate on MD United 2023 West. She is a member of the English and Science National Honor Societies and has served as Student Government Vice President. Cimaglia will major in Aviation Business Administration.

Ella-Rae Cox

Goalie

Cox is a goalie who comes to Embry-Riddle from Calvert County, Maryland. She is a two-sport athlete at Huntingtown High School where she was selected team captain of the lacrosse and field hockey teams. As junior, she recorded 70 saves with an average of 4.5 saves per game to go with eight ground balls and five caused turnovers. The recipient of four Minds in Motion awards, the HHS Principal’s Award and the Criminal Justice Award, Cox will pursue a degree in Homeland Security.

Eliana Enners
5-5
Midfield/Attack

A native of Bedford, New Hampshire, Enners is a midfielder/attacker who plays for Bedford High School, as well as the Granite State Elite Lacrosse club. She was an All-State selection in 2022. Enners also plays field hockey for the Bulldogs and has earned All-State and MVP honors twice. She is a member of the Spanish, Science and Math National Honor Societies and will major in Aeronautical Science at Embry-Riddle.

Caitlin Gavin

Defense/Midfield

Gavin (Marietta, Georgia) plays midfield and defense for the Lassiter High School and the Atlanta Storm 2023 Blue lacrosse programs. She was an All-Cobb County selection in 2022 when she helped the Lady Trojans to the state semifinals. Gavin will major in Air Traffic Management.

Madeline Nees
5-7
Goalie

Nees will be moving across the country from Santa Barbara, California, to play for the Eagles while pursuing a degree in Aerospace Physiology. She has earned four letters as a goalie at Don Pueblos High School. As a junior, she was named the Channel League MVP Goalie after recording 125 saves and a 1.6 goals against average. She also helped the Chargers win back-to-back Channel League titles and they qualified for CIF Southern Sectionals in 2021 and 2022.

Ava Rogalo
5-5
Midfield

Rogalo hails from Denver, Colorado, where she is a four-year letterwinner and senior team captain at Regis Jesuit High School. As a junior in 2021-22, the midfielder tallied 33 points on 25 goals and eight assists, won 58 draw controls, picked up 35 ground balls and caused 37 turnovers. Rogala expects to major in Aeronautical Science.

Whittaker Smith
5-4
Attack/Midfield

Smith is an attacker/midfielder from Colleyville, Texas. As a four-year letterwinner at Keller High School, Smith has garnered All-District honors three times. She captained the Indians for two seasons and was a USA Lacrosse All-American nominee in 2021. Smith also plays for the 214 Lacrosse and Lotus Lacrosse club programs and served on the North Texas Lacrosse Junior Board. Smith aspires to be a pilot and will major in Aeronautical Science.
