The weather was cool and the field was wet in Atlanta this past weekend as the Owls set out to take on Georgia State and Emory University. The Saturday and Sunday games concluded with two more victories that now put the Owls at 4-1 for the 2017 season.

On Saturday, The Owls showed consistent improvement as they led GSU 8-2 at the half. In his first start, FAU goalie Ben Colmes had 11 saves and the Owls took 20 shots by the end of the second quarter. Goals for the Owls came by way of Gavin Tayor, Robert Seguin, Nate Gillan, and Jake Souza. The final score was 16-10.

On Sunday, the Owls hit the field again for a conference game against Emory University and Coach Mike Voso. “We really enjoyed getting out on the field against Emory,” “they were great hosts and had a wonderful facility,” Coach Coco said of the win. With a great first half performance, the Owls led 4-0 at the break. In the second half, the Eagles rallied, and at the end of regulation the score was tied at 7-7. With 10 seconds left in play, Owls attackman Robert Seguin received an offsides penatly on a strong ride, and the Owls went man down for the start of overtime. The Owls man-down defense was able to successfully defend against the eagles first possession, and goalie Clint Benhart came up with a big save and excellent clear. Midfielder Gavin Taylor made a fantastic one-handed catch and the Owls were able to capitalize on the fast-break to secure the win.
