via Rollins press release   CUMMING, Ga.  (March 15, 2018) – Sophomore midfielder Hannah Ashton led the Tars with six goals, including earning the game-winner, as the 11^th-ranked Rollins women’s lacrosse team earned their sixth straight victory on Thursday night at North Forsyth High School.  Ashton’s six goals helped lift the Tars to a 20-14 victory over Young Harris, advancing the Rollins women’s lacrosse team’s record to 7-2 on the season, while Young Harris drops to 5-4 overall. Behind Ashton’s team-leading six goals, Kallie German netted five and added a team high three assists for eight points on the night.  Lily Rizk tallied a hat trick, while Paige Brock scored two goals of her own.  Hannah Forbes, Marina Longo, Hannah Coakley, and Julianna DeSimone all scored one goal each, while Longo, Coakley, P. Brock, Lindsay Van Beck, and Maggie Dougherty all earned one assist apiece.  In the ground ball battle, Dougherty led the team with three on the night, while P. Brock and Van Beck each earned two.  Both German and Rizk earned a team best six draw controls, while Dougherty led the team in caused turnovers with two.  In goal, the Tars saw three different players stand in cage, led by Malorie Olin who played a total of 36:33 minutes between the pipes.  Olin faced a total of 11 shots, earning five saves while allowing six goals.  Sarah Neely saw a total of 20:59 in cage, seeing six shots while earning two saves and allowing four goals.  Freshman Gabby Tanner played for 2:28 minutes, facing four shots and allowing four shots to hit the back of the net. The Mountain Lions saw Rachel Lepine and Nicole Kernohan score a team best four goals each, while Erika Cross netted two of her own.  Mary Deatrick, Anna Luckie, Katie McNutt, and Hayley Bartlett all scored one goal each to conclude Young Harris’ scoring efforts.  Luckie earned the teams’ two assists on the night, while Cross lead the team in ground balls with two.  Meghan Tonnesen, Deatrick, and Lepine all earned a team best four draw controls, while Cross led the team in caused turnovers with two.  In goal, Rachel Robb played a full 60 minutes, earning nine saves while allowing 20 goals. HOW IT HAPPENED:

• First Half:  Rollins scored first off of a goal by Rizk thanks to an assist by German at the 29:07 mark, but both teams traded blows to set the score at 3-3 with 22:45 remaining in the first half.  Rollins scored three straight to take a 6-3 lead with 17:36 to go in the first stanza, but a goal by Kernohan off of an assist by Luckie halted the Tars run and set the score at 6-4 with 16:25 on the clock.  The Tars then went on a scoring spree, netting six straight to take a 12-4 lead over the Mountain Lions with 5:05 before halftime.  Young Harris scored two straight to pull to within six, 12-6, with 16 ticks left on the clock, but a late goal by Ashton off of an assist by Brock as the final seconds melted off the clock gave Rollins the 13-6 advantage at the break.
• Second Half:  Rizk opened up the scoring in the second half with a goal at the 28:36 mark, giving the Tars a 14-6 lead, but Young Harris pulled back to within half with a goal by Lepine at the 26:19 mark to set he score at 14-7.  As the remainder of the half counted down, the Mountain Lions outscored the Tars 7-6, but it wasn’t enough as Rollins secured their sixth straight win with a final score of 20-14.

  NOTES:

• Ashton netted a career high in goals and points in a game with six
• Van Beck earned the first assist of her career
• Marina Longo matched a career best in goals, assists, and points
• Rizk matched a career best in goals and overall points, and notched a new career high in draw controls with six.
• German sits in first place in the program record books for free-position goals scored with 50 total.  German also ranks fifth for career goals scored with 118, and has moved into fourth in career points scored with 173, which she currently shares with Katy Tyszko `11.
• Malorie Olin currently ranks second in program records for career saves with 414.  She sits behind Elyse De Lisle `14, who amassed 463 in her career.
• Lindsay Van Beck has moved into third in program record books for caused turnovers in a career with 70.  She sits 37 caused turnovers behind program leader Courtney Bianculli `13, who amassed 107 in her time with the Tars.
• The Tars are no 2-0 against Young Harris in the all-time series.  The first time the two teams matched up on the field was on April 4, 2016, where Rollins earned a 16-5 victory over the Mountain Lions.
• The Tars entered into the week sitting 11th on the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, and sit 17th on the NIKE/US Lacrosse Division II Top 20.
