Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Philip Buque / Saint Leo University / Jr. / Attack / Whitby, Ontario, Canada
Buque takes Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in Saint Leo’s 12-11 win over No. 20 Assumption College. During the game, the Ontario native tallied five points, four goals, and one assist. Buque took 11 shots against the Greyhounds, five on goal, picked up two ground balls and had one caused turnover. It is the second weekly honor of the year for the junior attackman.
Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Will Eckert / Rollins College / Fr. / Goalie / Bristow, Virginia Eckert was selected Defensive Player of the Week for his goaltending performance in Rollins’ 12-8 victory over Westminster College. The Bristow, Virginia native entered the game after the Tars starting goalie exited due to injury. The Freshman registered 13 saves after facing 19 shots in his 38 minutes on the field. Eckert finished with a 0.684 save percentage while adding a ground ball and a caused turnover to his stat sheet. The Tars went 16-18 on clearing attempts and allowed two goals on five man-down opportunities. Men’s Lacrosse Specialist of the Week Mark Urso / Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University / Jr. / FO / Sandy Hook, Connecticut Urso earns Specialist of the Week honors for his performance at the faceoff X in Embry-Riddle’s wins against Georgian Court University (7-6, OT), Emmanuel College (10-5), and Chowan University (18-12). For the week, the Sandy Hook, Connecticut product won 51-of-62 faceoffs (0.823), picked up 36 ground balls, and had two goals. Urso’s top game came against Chowan, in which he won 24 faceoffs, had 17 ground balls, and scored two goals. This is Urso’s second weekly award this season.
Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Sarah Grady / Florida Southern College / Jr. / Attack / Cumming, Georgia Grady is awarded Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in Florida Southern’s wins over Wingate University (20-7) and No. 22 Queens University of Charlotte (14-12). Against the Bulldogs, Grady tallied one goal, four assists, and one caused turnover in 60 minutes of action. The Cumming, Georgia native then registered four goals, two assists, three ground balls, and one caused turnover against the Royals. For the week, the junior had 11 points off of five goals and six assists. She also tallied three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week Dani Bursinger / Florida Southern College / Sr. / Midfield / Powell, Ohio Bursinger takes Defensive Player of the Week honors for her efforts in Florida Southern’s wins over Wingate University (20-7) and No. 22 Queens University of Charlotte (14-12). The Powell, Ohio product won nine draw controls, had two grounds balls, and one goal against the Bulldogs. Against the Royals, Bursinger won a season-high 18 draw controls, adding to her SSC leading 8.00 draw controls per game.
