Chiles High School finally took down Maclay to win the District, after many years of dominance by Maclay.  Unfortunately for Chiles, an administrative error led to the FHSAA requiring them to forfeit their FHSAA first round game to Gulf Breeze, ending their season prematurely.  But that does not dim what they accomplished on the field last season. Chiles High School 15-3, lost in the 1^st round of the FHSAA playoffs Head Coach Chris Anders sent in this information as his team looks to repeat their feat from a year ago: What are your expectations this season for the team? We expect to be a competitive team this season. We lost a lot of senior leaders from our 2018 District Championship team, but those guys laid the ground work for our underclass who are now stepping into a bigger role. We return a lot of key components to be successful and make a strong push into 2019 Districts and beyond. I have kept the coaching staff mainly in tact as we look face our toughest schedule yet with game vs teams like IMG academy, #12 in the state Oak Hall, District 5 champion Fletcher High School, District 2 champion Gulf Breeze and the always tough Episcopal High School. I think the tougher the teams, the more we can learn and the better we can get as a team as we push on to District championships and State tournament. The kids are juiced up more than ever this year and it’s a testament to our 2018 senior class. Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season? Both Maclay games, our first ever game vs IMG, the challenge of #12 Oak Hall and playing the best team in Pensacola, Gulf Breeze. I expect to have a decent season. It will be an improvement from last year. We are very young with only senior so this is a good building year to get a lot of experience for some of the younger players. Who are the returning players who will make a difference this season?
