via the FAU Club Team   Last weekend, Florida Atlantic University kicked off its 2018 MCLA schedule with a scrimmage victory over The Citadel. The final score was 13-12. The Owls had some new faces on the field with goals coming by way of Nick Favoroso, a Florida Southern transfer, and Reagan Griffith, via Lynn University. Florida Southern transfer, Josh Zimmerman dominated the Faceoff X, going 16 for 20. Other notable points came by way of freshman Seth Travis (East River, Orlando) who led the Owls with 4 assists and one goal on attack. The Owls are gearing up for a tough season, with SELC conference rivals UNF and FGCU already facing stiff competition.  For the Owls, the fall season was a productive one as Head Coach Bryan Coco brought on three new coaches, bolstering the offense with support from Greg Swanson, (2016 MCLA Offensive Player of the Year, and all-time points leader at Palm Beach Atlantic University), and the defensive with Marco Olortegui, who set the 2014 in-game saves record for the nation while playing at American Heritage under legendary Coach Jeff Goldberg. Olortegui also spent four years serving as Goldberg’s defensive assistant at American Heritage, Boca Raton. Florida Atlantic University alum, and MCLA All-Conference defender, John “Simba” Mcginn will also help out on defense. The Owls have one more scrimmage against Eastern Florida State College before official games begin.
