Sophomore Scoops Up First National Player of the Week Award in Program History

  GRAND LAKES, Colo. – The awards continue to roll in for Florida Tech’s Lauren Tybor as she has been named the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II National Player of the Week. She is the first player to receive the honor in women’s lacrosse program history. A sophomore, Tybor has been instrumental in No. 5 Florida Tech’s success this season and it continued last week. The do-it-all midfielder recorded 11 points, 23 draw controls, seven ground balls and four caused turnovers while guiding the Panthers to victories over Sunshine State Conference rivals No. 16 Tampa and No. 8 Rollins. The Jacksonville, Florida product finished with six points, on two goals and four assists, 11 draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers to lead the Crimson & Gray to a 22-13 road victory over Tampa on Wednesday, Apr. 4. Tybor then notched five points, on four goals and an assist, 12 draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers as the Panthers took down a Top-10 Rollins program, 21-12, on Saturday, Apr. 7. Her 12 draw controls tied a single-game program record. The victory over the Tars also snapped Rollins’ 11-game winning streak. For the season, Tybor currently ranks sixth in the conference in total points (61), third in assists (25) and 10th in goals (36). She is also second in the SSC in draw controls (89) and third in caused turnovers (29).
