via FSC press release   BOCA RATON, FL – Former Florida Southern College men’s lacrosse goalkeeper Matt Lalli has been named to the 2018 training camp roster for the Florida Launch of Major League Lacrosse. Lalli, who finished his four-year career as the Moccasins’ all-time leader in saves, wins, and starts by a netminder, is one of 40 players who will open training camp with the Launch. He is the fourth former Moccasin to earn a spot on an MLL roster, joining Cam Holding (2010), DJ Lubs (2010, 2012-14) and Dane Sorensen (2012-15). Holding, the current head coach at Michigan State, was a 2011 selection of the Edmonton Rush while Lubs spent time with the Denver Outlaws of MLL and the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League before suffering a career-ending injury. Sorensen was selected in the fifth round, 45th overall, in the 2015 NLL draft by Colorado. “It’s a huge honor to be selected to the training camp roster,” said Lalli, who earned the spot after an open tryout with the Launch earlier this month. “I love lacrosse and it’s always fun to be able to play, so getting the opportunity to potentially play professionally is exciting. As a former walk-on its been a long road to get here, a lot of hard work, but after all of that, this is basically the icing on the cake.” Lalli was a four-year starter for the Mocs, finishing his career with 686 saves and 32 wins. A 2016 first team all-Sunshine State Conference selection, Lalli was also a USILA Scholar all-American as a senior, an eight time SSC Defensive Player of the Week honoree, two-time USILA National Defensive Player of the Week, and played in the 2017 USILA North/South Division I/II All-Star Game. The Launch, which played its first season in the MLL in 2014, play at FAU Stadium on the campus of Florida Atlantic University. The Launch will hold several events for fans next week when training camp kicks off, including a Kick Off Party on April 7 before training camp opens on April 8.
