FSC: Women’s Lacrosse Reveals 2018 Schedule

  via FSC press release   LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern College women’s lacrosse head coach Kara Reber revealed her team’s 2018 schedule on Monday afternoon. The Moccasins will pay 11 home games this year at the brand-new Moccasin Field at the Barnett Athletic Complex. As always, Florida Southern’s slate is filled with matchups against some of the top teams in the country, including a showdown with Adelphi in a rematch of the past two NCAA Division II Championship games. Florida Southern’s 2018 opponents consist of four teams that made an NCAA Tournament appearance last year (Adelphi, Florida Tech, Mercy, Queens) and two more that ended the season ranked in the IWLCA top 20 (McKendree and Rollins). Also included in the mix are a pair of conference champions (Mount Olive and Young Harris), and three opponents who the Mocs will face for the first time ever (Embry-Riddle, Mars Hill, Palm Beach Atlantic. The Moccasins’ 2018 foes combined to go 179-109 a year ago, good for a .622 winning percentage. The season gets underway with a pair of road games at Catawba (Feb. 10) and Mars Hill (Feb. 11) before the Mocs open their home schedule with seven-straight contests at their new facility. Florida Southern opens its first season at Moccasin Field against defending national champion Adelphi at 12 p.m. on Feb. 17. The homestand continues with doubleheaders against Seton Hill and Tusculum (March 3), as well as Young Harris and Westminster College (March 5). FSC caps off the home stretch with Queens (March 8), Mercy (March 10) and McKendree (March 14). The remainder of the home schedule consists of Sunshine State Conference matchups with Tampa (March 27), Saint Leo (April 10) and Palm Beach Atlantic (April 21). The Mocs will travel to Florida Tech, (March 24), Mount Olive (March 30), Rollins (April 3), Embry-Riddle (April 7), Belmont Abbey (April 13) and Lenoir-Rhyne (April 15). The Sunshine State Conference Tournament, which Florida Southern has won in each of the past two years, will take place on April 27 (semifinals) and April 29 (finals) at the school that wins the SSC regular-season title, which the Mocs have done for the past three seasons.
