Gulf Breeze Alum Clarke Haas Named Appalachian Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, 1st Team All-Conference!

  ASHVILLE, N.C. – Clarke Haas (Pensacola, Fla. / Fashion Marketing and Management) has been named Appalachian Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, five named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference First-Team while three were named to the Second Team. Sydney Bowers (Lake Worth, Fla. / Film and Television), Aly De Caro (El Dorado Hills, Calif. / Advertising and Branding), Haas, Sophia Milia (Birmingham, Mich. / Business of Beauty & Fragrance) and Katie Rowell (Waldwick, N.J. / Industrial Design) were named to the First Team while Tatum Crouch (Easton, Md. / Fashion Marketing and Management), Tracy Richards (Poway, Calif. / Visual Effects) and Allison Thierry (Stevensville, Md. / Interior Design) were named to the Second Team. Haas earned Freshman of the Year and First Team honors with her phenomenal first season as a Bee. To date, she totals 44 goals, eight assists for 52 points to go along with 75 shots, 61 of which were on goal for a shot on goal percentage of .813. The freshman also totaled 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers. Haas scored 10 goals in the game against Asbury University and set a new program record for goals in a single game. Currently, she ranks fifth in the conference in goals. Bowers and Rowell helped lead a Bees defense that limited their opponents to 91 goals as SCAD scored 188 thus far and held their opponents to a shot percentage of .396. Bowers totals 23 ground balls, eight caused turnovers and two draw controls. Rowell has one assist, 16 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and one draw control so far this season. This season, De Caro totals 37 goals and 11 assists for 48 points. The junior also totaled 52 shots on goal, six ground balls, four caused turnovers and 17 draw controls. De Caro scored nine goals against Tennessee Wesleyan University and at the time, tied a program record for goals in a single game. Milia totals 17 goals, 46 assists and 63 points to go along with nine ground balls, four caused turnovers and one draw control. In the game against Montreat College, Milia totaled 12 assists, which set a new program record in assists in a single game. Currently, the junior leads the AAC in assists and is fifth in points. This season, Crouch totals 29 goals, six assists, 35 points, 16 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and 40 draw controls. In the first game against St. Andrews University, Crouch totaled a season high six caused turnovers. Richards totals 449:58 minutes thus far in the goal and totals 75 saves, 78 goals against, a 10.40 GAA and a .490 save percentage. She is 8-2 on the season and has faced 194 shots. The junior also totals 17 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Currently, Richards leads the AAC in save percentage (49%) and is second in GAA and fourth in goals against. To date, Thierry totals 27 goals and 19 assists for 46 points. The senior also totals seven ground balls, three caused turnovers and one draw control. The Bees are currently waiting to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the 2021 NAIA National Championship in Savannah, Ga.
