via JU press release   Andrew Vossler returns to the Jacksonville University men’s lacrosse coaching ranks as an assistant coach, as announced by JU head coach John Galloway. Vossler previously served as a volunteer assistant with the Dolphins during the 2015 season. “We couldn’t be happier to add Coach Vossler back into the mix of our coaching staff,” stated Galloway. “After 18 months on the job, I feel we have established a staff that is committed to our culture in this program. He will immediately impact our defensive efforts with Coach Liebel. More importantly, I believe Coach Vossler believes in the mentorship and guidance of our student-athletes. Our players will become better men because of the moral values of our staff.” “I’m honored to join the Jacksonville University coaching staff and work with the defensive unit,” added Vossler. “I want to thank Coach Galloway for seeing my potential and providing an opportunity for me to coach at the highest level. It’s very exciting to be part of a young, passionate coaching staff. I am committed to the relentless pursuit of greatness for the program, defensive unit, and most importantly, each young man that I coach. Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to Coach Lewis, Coach Sweeney, as well as Rollins College and the dedicated student-athletes that I have had the privilege of working with. My success is a small testament to all of their hard work.” For the past two seasons, Vossler served as defensive coordinator and worked with the face-off units at his alma mater, Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. Under Vossler’s guidance, the Tars made program history as the defensive units allowed less than 10 goals per game in back-to-back seasons. Additionally, the team improved its face-off win percentage from .450 to .526 in 2016. Vossler mentored five All-Sunshine State Conference selections, including two First Team picks, and a pair of All-SSC Tournament team honorees during his tenure. Vossler spent the 2015 season as a volunteer assistant coach at JU under former Dolphin head coach Guy Van Arsdale. Instrumental in elevating the team’s overall face-off win percentage from .374 to .524, Vossler guided the Dolphins from being ranked 64^th to 22^nd nationally in face-off win percentage as a team.  Individually, Vossler took the team’s top face-off specialist and increased his win percentage from .429 to .548, ranking 21^st nationally at the face-off X. Prior to his time in Duval, Vossler served as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio in 2014. Vossler’s guidance helped the Blue Streaks to a 13-4 record in its inaugural Division III season, capped by an appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game. Seven players earned All-OAC honors as Vossler’s defensive units combined for an OAC-leading 6.85 goals-against average, good for 16th in the nation among DIII teams. Along with his coaching duties, Vossler also played a key role in the Blue Streaks’ daily operations, scouting duties, and recruiting efforts. Vossler began his coaching career in 2013 at Division II Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado. As the Grizzlies’ assistant coach and defensive coordinator, Vossler also facilitated and implemented a strength and conditioning program for the team. His efforts aided a pair of Grizzlies to league defensive player of the week honors, as Adams State finish the season nationally ranked in the top three in DII in both caused turnovers per game (2nd) and ground balls per game (3rd). A four-year member of the men’s lacrosse team at Rollins from 2009-12, Vossler was a three-time team captain and three-time All-Deep South selection. He currently ranks in the top five in several statistical categories in the Tars’ record books, including second all-time in ground balls (192) and caused turnovers (72); third in ground balls per game (3.84) and caused turnovers per game (1.44); and fourth all-time after starting all 50 games of his career. A native of Manlius, N.Y., Vossler earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Rollins in 2012.
