JU Women: Arnold, Elms Lead Dolphins to 12-9 Win Over ECU Pirates!

via JU press release   BOX SCORE GREENVILLE, N.C. – After being idle for the last several weeks, the Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse team returned to the field Saturday afternoon, taking on East Carolina University. Despite trailing early, the Dolphins (2-0) rode the performances of Alyssa Arnold and Sarah Elms to beat the Pirates (2-4) by a final score of 12-9. “The winning edge today was our GKs, they had a great game this afternoon,” said head coach Mindy McCord. “Addy (Tysdal) was extremely consistent and Dayna (Martinetto) provided critical saves in the second half. It was good to see our offense get distributed out across so many people scoring and recording assists.” “Molly (Brock) really dominated draw possessions and possession time was a goal of ours today. We will have a chance to get some things cleaned up this week as we prepare for Florida.” After ECU scored the first two goals of the game, Jenny Kinsey scored on a ball from Brianna Samuels to get the Dolphins on the board. Alyssa Arnold scored her first goal of the game moments later to tie things at 2-2. ECU came out firing in the second half, scoring twice in the first three minutes to tie the game at five. Lauren Phillips responded for the Dolphins, scoring an unassisted goal four minutes into the period. Elms scored a man-up goal at 23:49 later to extend the JU lead back to two, and was the first of three-straight JU goals. Kinsey scored on a pass from Arnold two minutes later before Arnold scored less than a minute later on a ball from Kasey Stevens to make it 9-6 Jacksonville. ECU answered with a goal to stop the run and get back within two, but Elms scored again at 17:17 to make it 10-7.
