via JU press release – by Adam Tremblay   BOX SCORE JACKSONVILLE, FL. – After a two week hiatus, the Jacksonville University women’s lacrosse team (6-1) was back in action at D.B. Milne Field Friday afternoon, as they played host to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (9-6). After battling back from an early deficit and playing close throughout the contest, the Dolphins fell in overtime to the Chanticleers by a score of 13-12. Coastal Carolina set the tone early in the first half with a pair of goals in the first five minutes of play before Sarah Elms got the Dolphins on the board with her 21st goal of the season with 22:09 on the clock to make it a 2-1 game. The Chanticleers scored again about two minutes later to push their lead back to two goals before the Dolphins scored a trio of goals in the span of less than two minutes to take their first lead of the game. Jenny Kinsey got things going when she scored off a pass from Grace Hobson before Elms tied the game at 3-3 with a free position goal. Kinsey put the Dolphins on top less than 30 seconds later, again on a pass from Hobson to make it 4-3. Coastal scored a pair of goals to retake the lead 5-4 before Kinsey scored her third goal of the game with just under 7:30 to play in the first half to make it a 5-5 game, a score which would carry into halftime. The second half was a continuation of the back-and-forth play that was seen in the first 30 minutes of action. CCU scored twice in the early moments of the period to retake the lead at 7-5 before Molly Brock and Kinsey scored for Jacksonville to tie things at 7-7. The Chanticleers again took a two-goal lead in the following minutes before Elms converted a free-position shot to get JU back within one at 9-8. Two more goals by the visitors made it an 11-8 game before the Dolphins rattled off three-straight to tie things. Kinsey found the net in a man-down situation to get the rally going before Brock and Hobson scored to even things up at 11-11. Coastal briefly retook the lead at 12-11 before Jacksonville controlled the ensuing draw and raced down the field to once more tie things on a goal from Brock. Neither side could net the go-ahead goal in the final minutes of regulation and the teams went to overtime tied at 12-12. The Chanticleers controlled the draw and maintained possession before scoring the game-winner with less than two minutes to go to wrap things up at 13-12. Coastal Carolina took the lead with over two minutes left in the second half, yet the Dolphins did not let that stop their momentum. Molly Brock scored a goal fifteen seconds later to tie the score at 12 and send the game into over time. Despite the loss, several Dolphins shined on offense. Jenny Kinsey scored a season-high of five goals and recorded an assist. She has now tallied an assist in every game this season. Sarah Elms and Molly Brock each tallied three goals to earn a hat trick. To highlight the defense, goalie Addy Tysdal accumulated five saves. Jacksonville will be back in action on Sunday to recognize their seniors and compete against Liberty University (9-6, 2-0) at 12:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
