Jupiter 2018 Molly Mahoney Commits to Randolph-Macon College!

Author’s Note:  This is an excellent announcement.  Going forward, please send us your twitter handle if you have one so we can include it. I also have to note that there was a breach of trust last week when someone sent in a fake recruitment announcement under another’s name.  Please understand that just because this is a lacrosse site, it still is a serious site that many college coaching staffs monitor.  You do yourself no favor by abusing the privilege this site provides to Florida kids.  Trust me, there is almost no similar site to it around the country, including the hotbeds.  We have labored a long time to build credibility with the lacrosse community; do not abuse the privilege or we will have to shut this feature down.  That helps no one.
Congratulations to Molly on her college choice and good luck in the future!   Name Molly Mahoney High School Jupiter High School Graduation Year 2018 College Choice Randolph-Macon College Club Affiliations Maniax, Xteam Why did you choose this college? I chose Randolph-Macon College because it had the big school feel wrapped up in a small college town. Many of the students there are student athletes which I love because all the sports support each other. The school has very strong alumni involvement and it also provides lots of help with career opportunities through those connections. I want to study Communications and with the internships across Virginia, New York, and Washington, D.C., I will have many resources from the school to further my studies and find my profession.     What are your first memories of the sport? My first memories of the sport were playing at my community park and learning the sport with my friend’s dad. The volunteer parents in Jupiter who helped me learn the basics of lacrosse gave me a love of playing the sport because although it was competitive I will always remember the fun times and relationships I built during that time. What part of the process was most surprising to you about the recruiting process and what would you like to pass on to those who are going to face it in the future? The biggest surprise in recruiting is the amount of footage from games you need to have. College coaches may not have time to see you at a tournament so sending them film is a great way to show them your game.  I want others to know that the recruiting process is very hard, but if you have a passion to play in college the right school will find you. Whether you want to play Division 1 or Division 3, what counts is the school you pick because it will be your home for the next 4 years. Keep working at your game, keep sending emails, and the rest will follow. Be confident and persistent! Who would you like to thank for helping you get here? I would like to thank my lacrosse family from XTEAM. Crista Samaras is the most confident and strongest woman I have encountered. She taught me how to be brave in lacrosse, confident in myself and to never give up on my goals. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to be coached by her and also Michele Ruth who brought XTEAM to me. Thank you to Maniax for giving me tools and guidance for recruitment. I would like to thank Jupiter High School for giving me 4 years of lacrosse being coached by Claire Poza for 3 years and Jim Hill for my senior year. Without their support, I wouldn’t have been able to be the player I am today. The leadership opportunity I was given my senior year helped me grow as a person. I would also like to thank my future college coach MK Geratowski for believing in me to be a part of the next 4 years with her and the Randolph-Macon College family. Finally, I would like to thank my wonderful parents because without the love, compassion, patience, and willingness they have everyday to support my love for lacrosse I wouldn’t be where I am. Seeing their smiling faces and hearing their cheering voices is the memory I will always hold in my heart.
