via FSC press release   LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Kara Reber has announced the addition of Katy Richardson as an assistant coach for the 2020 season.  Richardson joins Reber and assistant coach Shannon McHale in their mission of developing student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. Reber stated, “We are extremely fortunate to add Katy to our staff and are looking forward to her bringing in some new ideas and insights to our program.” Originally from West Palm Beach, Fla., Richardson brings six years of experience in both coaching and administration.  Richardson has a tremendous amount of experience with off the field tasks and assignments as she is the director of a high level lacrosse club spanning the southeast region of the country. Not only will she provide assistance from the administrative side of the program, but her vast experience and knowledge will help with player development and recruiting. Collegiately, she began her playing career as defender at Division II Adelphi University, where she was a member of the 2014 National Championship team. After two seasons, she transferred to Division I Presbyterian College, where she moved to attack, and earned All-Big South Conference Honorable Mention in 2015. During her time at Presbyterian, she led the team in goals, assists, and points in a season. Along the way, she set a single game school record with nine goals against Delaware State. Richardson’s commitment to excellence extended to the classroom as well as she was named to both the NE-10 Conference and IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. Richardson noted, “Coach Reber has built an exceptional program here at Florida Southern. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with an experienced staff and help develop such a driven group of women.” “We are truly excited to have Katy become a member of our Florida Southern lacrosse family.  Katy’s high level playing experience and strong knowledge of the game make her a great addition and true asset to our program” said Reber.
