Launch Fall to Bayhawks 14-11 in Home Opener

via the Launch press release   Despite an explosive late-game push, the Florida Launch fell to the Chesapeake Bayhawks, 14-11, in their home opener at FAU Stadium. With a close score of 4-3 entering the half, the Launch saw an aggressive Bayhawks offense to open the third quarter. Breaking through a five-goal scoring run, the Launch put up three consecutive goals with help from Dylan Molloy (2G) and one of the newest players in Launch uniform, Tim Moore (1G). “I think it was just a matter of executing at key moments,” said Coach Tom Mariano following the game. But, even with a career first two-point goal from Tim Barber to cut the Bayhawks lead down to one with six minutes left in the game, the Launch struggled to gain the upper hand on the insatiable Bayhawks’ attack. “We would make some nice plays. One time, we made a great man-down play, it bounces right to their guy, and he just steps in and shoots,” said Mariano, “when that happens, you got to make your own luck, and we didn’t do a good enough job of that tonight.” Up against the relentless Bayhawks scoring unit, veteran Austin Kaut produced major saves for the Launch, stopping 18 of the 32 shots on goals (.562). The Launch return to action Sunday, May 6 at 4 p.m. against the Denver Outlaws to continue their five-game home stand.
