via FLN Special Correspondent Anthony Cicio   Athens, Georgia — This past week, the Florida State Seminoles upset the University of Georgia 13-11 in an SELC top twenty showdown. FSU improved to 8-3 on the season while UGA fell to 8-4. The Bulldogs drew first blood, making it 1-0 early in the first quarter. However, it was all Seminoles for the next two quarters. Sophomore Kyle Wooten assisted senior Davis Goodman on the crease for FSU’s first score. Freshman Reid Smith followed up with another goal by breaking a defender’s ankles behind the net and finishing on a wraparound. Sophomore Quinn Lowdermilk concluded the first quarter scoring with a top shelf goal, making it 3-1 after one. On the opening draw to start the second quarter, a Georgia LSM scooped up the ground ball and attempted to play the ball back to his keeper. However, senior Dawson Allen made a leaping one handed interception. Allen moved the ball to Goodman who dished the rock to sophomore Luke Kendall for the score. UGA responded with a goal of their own shortly after on a man up opportunity, making it 4-2 with eight minutes remaining in the second.     The Seminoles began to click offensively to end the half. Lowdermilk slashed through the Georgia defense and finished on a low to high elevator shot. Then,Wooten was able to find net on a left handed step down during an EMO. Right after that, freshman attackman Sean Monahan finished on a low angle high to high shot on the crease, making it 7-2 in favor of the Seminoles as the first half came to a close. Reid Smith would score in the first minute of the third quarter, putting the Notes up by six before Georgia went on a run. The Bulldogs scored four unanswered to make it 8-6 midway through the 3rd quarter. Davis Goodman ended the Seminoles drought shortly after, giving him a hatrick on the evening.The scoreboard read 9-6 in favor FSU as the third frame ended. UGA scored two goals in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter but Smith quickly answered, making it 10-8, Florida State. Georgia managed to tie it up 10-10 with 5:15 remaining in the fourth quarter but FSU’s defense held tight. Consecutive goals by Smith, Allen, and Lowdermilk in the final three minutes sealed the game for the Seminoles.
