Author’s Note: A heck of an effort for FGCU, nearly turning around a hefty regular season loss to the #1 team in MCLA D2No. 1 St. Thomas (14-1) d. No. 9 Florida Gulf Coast (12-5), 6-4. In a grinder between two physical teams, St. Thomas outlasted Florida Gulf Coast, 6-4. Six different players scored a goal for the Tommies, led by a goal and an assist from Nicholas Bunde. Austin Cotton played very well for the Eagles, turning away 11 shots in the loss. St. Thomas will face the winner of the St. John’s-Grand Valley State tilt.
