SALT LAKE CITY – Davis Crayner’s second goal of Monday’s game between his No. 12 Florida State squad and No. 5 Arizona State was the biggest of his collegiate career. It came midway through the second overtime of the first-round game between the two teams, sending the Seminoles to the quarterfinals.
It was tight game for most of the evening. The Sun Devils (12-3) led 2-1 after the first quarter but watched the Seminoles (9-6) counter to take a 5-4 bulge into halftime. Still trailing 6-5 after three quarters, Arizona State found its strike, overtaking Florida State, 9-8. With less than a minute remaining, Florida State found the equalizer, send the game to extra time. There, Crayner dodged to the left side of the net and hit a high stinger just above the goalie’s head. Joining Crayner with two goals was Reid Smith (along with an assist). Colin Peaks made 14 saves in the win. Jake Marthens was outstanding, scoring four goals with two assists. Johnny Perlite made 18 saves.Mixed em and cooked em the pot like gumbo https://t.co/rNDBxnjm9E
