  via the Launch press release

Author’s Note:  The Launch are giving all MSD students free tickets to all Launch home games this 2018 season. Students would just have to present their student ID’s at the gate.

This weekend the Launch will take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the second game of the 2018 MLL season. Saturday, April 28 the Launch will play their home opener at FAU Stadium, kicking off a five-game home stand through the month of May. Face-off is set for 7PM and will be streamed live on Lax Sports Network (laxsn.com). The Launch are coming into town following a huge win against the Atlanta Blaze last Sunday. Second year players led the way on the offense. Dylan Molloy tallied a team-high four points, while Sergio Salcido, Ryan Drenner and Nick Mariano all contributed three points in the 13-10 win. Long stick defenseman Jarod Neumann also added two goals to propel the team late in the game. The Bayhawks, on the other hand, started the year 0-1 after a 15-9 home loss against the Dallas Rattlers. The Launch offense was firing on all cylinders last weekend, with eight players scoring points accounting for 13 goals in the game. Coach Mariano attributes the fast start to the unselfish play and sharing of the ball on the attacking side. “The guys are believing in the mindset that its not just one guy, it takes all six to make plays.” The offense will have to be accurate and precise shooting against the Bayhawks starting goalkeeper, Brian Phipps. The veteran goalie stopped 22 shots in their home opener last week. In Saturday’s matchup, the face-off X and groundballs will be crucial stat lines to follow. Both coaches spoke of improving their groundball games following their week one games last weekend. Goalie Austin Kaut, who made 20 saves in the win noted, “We just need to touch up on a few things defensively and be a team, and play hard together.” Coach Mariano told LSN, “Chesapeake is a very talented team who’s going to come out hungry for their first win. It’s fun to play guys you know really well, so we’re excited for the game.” Players to Watch: Steven Brooks – one goal away from second in franchise history in goals scored as a Launch player (passing Casey Powell). Can jump to 11th place all-time with one more two-point goal. Austin Kaut – broke 500 career saves in the win against Atlanta. Ranks third in the league with a .69 Save Percentage. Dylan Molloy – team-high four points last week including the first two goals of the game Honoring MSD: At our home opener we will also be honoring the Marjory High School students from Parkland, Florida. The Stoneman Douglas boys and girls lacrosse teams will be in attendance and will meet all of the players and coaches during warmups and be on the field with both professional teams for the National Anthem. The MSD JROTC will be presenting the color guard to start the game and Andy Pollack (father of victim Meadow Pollack) will be doing the ceremonial face-off. The entire MLL will be supporting Marjory Stoneman Douglas students by wearing helmet decals from Cascade all season.
