via FLN Special Correspondent Anthony Cicio   Florida State improved to 3-1 this past Friday night after a barn burner with Texas A&M. The Aggies came to Tallahassee with a 7-0 record and No. 23 ranking. However, a third quarter surge by the No. 21 Seminoles proved to be too much as they came away with the win, 15-14. The game remained tight throughout the first half, as neither team managed to pull ahead by more than two goals. The contest was knotted 7-7 at the half before the Seminoles exploded. In the third quarter, Florida State found a rhythm offensively and notched six goals. On the opposite end, the Noles’ defense held tight, allowing only two scores to the Aggies. The third quarter would come to an end in favor of the Seminoles, 13-9.     Things took a turn for Texas A&M in the fourth quarter as the Seminoles found themselves in the penalty box for 10 minutes, including a 3-minute non-releasable foul for “fan misconduct.” The Aggies took advantage of their EMO’s and scored 3 unanswered goals, bringing themselves within a single goal, 13-12. Freshman attackman Reid Smith quickly answered by scoring a shorthanded goal, one of his six on the day. Smith’s score put the Noles up 14-12 with five minutes to play but Florida State later found themselves in the penalty box again for slashing. The Aggies would score on the ensuing EMO and draw an additional flag for illegal body-check after the whistle, cutting the lead to 14-13. Retaining possession after the goal, Texas A&M wasted no time, netting the equalizer 20 seconds into their man up opportunity. The game was knotted 14-14 with 53 seconds remaining on the game clock.     Senior Dylan Lowdermilk, who went 21 for 28 at the X, would win the following face off and get the ball back to Smith. Smith slashed through the Aggie defense, cut back to his left hand, and found the bottom right corner of the net with 27 ticks left in the game, putting the Seminoles up 15-14. Lowdermilk would win the game’s final face off, leading the Seminoles to their third victory of the season. The Seminoles improved to 3-1 on the year. Texas A&M fell to 8-2 on the weekend after splitting a pair of games with Central Florida and Florida. Florida State travels to Atlanta this weekend for a double header. They’ll face No. 6 Georgia Tech on Friday night and No. 22 Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.   BOX SCORE: FSU-
